Day 1: Arrival in Zanzibar

You will be met by our representative who will be in charge of your entire trip.  For the first night you will be based in the old Stone Town.

After lunch, you will go on a tour of Stone Town, is the heart and soul of the island where history appears to be at a standstill. An incredible mash-up of winding alleys and old Arabic-style buildings, you can temporarily lose yourself (both physically and mentally) in the town’s magic. Soak up the local culture by sipping a cup of coffee from a local vendor or just keep on wandering through the streets, discovering unique little spots at every turn. .  In the evening you can visit the Forodhani gardens for a food cuisine bazaar.

DAY 2: Prison island

After lunch, proceed to the prison island  a place where violent criminals from the Tanganyika mainland were sent. The Prison Island ended up being used as a quarantine centre, instead of a prison, for yellow fever epidemics that once raged through the region. Prison Island remained in the ownership of the government which converted the newer quarantine buildings into a guest house.

Day 3: Zanzibar Butterfly Center and Jozani National park

Visit the Jozani Chwaka National park commonly known for the red tailed Columbus monkey, huge mahogany trees, mangrove swamps and forest walks.

Proceed to the Zanzibar butterfly center which consists of a netted tropical garden with hundreds of butterflies which are native species to Zanzibar. The enclosure is one of Africa’s largest butterfly exhibits and provides residents and tourists of Zanzibar with an interactive and visual environment to learn about butterflies. Experience butterflies feeding and flying very close at hand and to witness the complete life cycle of many species. The butterflies (in pupae form) are farmed sustainably by people from the villages around Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park.

DAY 4: JAMBIANI VILLAGE TOUR

In the morning you drive along the coast. Passing the fishing villages of Bwejuu and Paje till you reach Jambiani, a fishermen village on the East coast of Zanzibar. They offer a cultural village tour visiting villagers working in different professions. Our guide tells about the history of the village, you will visit a traditional herbalist, who will show you the local medicines, herbs and their uses, a visit to a local organic plantation on coral stone, where farmers cultivate under difficult circumstances, and seaweed farms run by woman. A good chance to learn about the unique culture and the diverse environment of Zanzibar’s villages and to meet the friendly Waswahili people.

DAY 5: DOLPHIN TOUR

Early in the morning, you go for an excursion in Kizimkazi. Situated on the southern point of the island, Kizimkazi fishing village is home to several schools of bottle-nosed dolphins and Humpback dolphins, which can often be sighted following a short boat trip from the village. If you are lucky, you may be able to swim quite close to the dolphins, which can be a very rewarding experience.

Day 6: SPICE FARM TOUR and NUNGWI ISLAND

In the morning proceed to tour a spice farm and learn about the many uses of spices aside from being used as food flavoring. The time you spend in the spice plantations is a delightful experience that is no doubt enlightening. You will also get an opportunity to pick, smell and taste spices and fruits.

In the afternoon, proceed to Nungwi which is located in the far North end of Zanzibar Island was previously a dhow building center, however all this has changed owing to the pristine white sand beaches and stunning sunsets which have turned it into a tourist attraction.

Nungwi was recognized as one of the best 100 beaches by CNN in 2014.

Day 7:  NUNGWI

All day at Leisure. Today you will relax and take it slow

DAY 5: DEPARTURE TO DARESSALAM

Depending on your departure time, you will be taken around Dar-es-Salaam then transfer to Dar-Es-Salaam Airport for your departure.
